When a new mom put her husband in charge of their son's bedtime, she assumed it would all go to plan.
It was only when she checked in on them via their babycam that she realized things had gone hilariously off the rails.
Bedtime can often be a struggle for kids and parents. In 2024, the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health found around 1 in 4 parents (27 percent) experienced difficulties in getting their child to bed.

Dalinna, a stay-at-home mom based in Connecticut, has certainly endured some struggles with her 8-month-old son Mateo.

...
"Lately, he's been very attached to me and hasn't been sleeping very well," she told Newsweek. Eager to break the cycle, one night recently Dalinna got her husband to put him to bed, hoping the change would bring about a better result.
"Sometimes Mateo sleeps with him, sometimes he doesn't," she said. On that particular night, however, it initially looked like her plan had worked.
"It seemed quiet, and my husband didn't bring Mateo out of the room," Dalinna said. "I had been cooking for a while, and both of them were still in the room, so I checked the camera."
That was when she discovered the truth: Mateo wasn't asleep at all. Not only that, he was playing games with his dad who appeared happy to indulge his son, despite the late hour.
"When I saw what was happening, I laughed, it was so cute. I really thought he was trying to put him to sleep," Dalinna said.
Dalinna ended up posting footage of what she saw that night on the babycam to her TikTok, @momlife.dalinnaz.
"When daddy says 'I got this' ... and 10 minutes later the baby is still partying," an onscreen caption read. In the clip, Dalinna's husband can be seen playing his own version of peek-a-boo with their son, much to Mateo's audible amusement.
"This is why bedtime with dad takes...forever," Dalinna wrote alongside the video.
Dalinna is happy to poke fun at what happens when her husband is left in charge of bed time, but she insists he "really tries his best" at trying to get their son to sleep. "He wants Mateo to sleep with him like he did when he was a newborn, but Mateo is very attached to me," she said.
On this particular occasion, however, he ended up failing at the task, with Dalinna ultimately stepping in to finish the job. "After we finished dinner, Mateo fell asleep with me," she said.
The clip is nevertheless one that makes her smile and serves as a prime example of the often amusing trials and tribulations faced by sleep-deprived moms and dads. "I thought it was such a sweet moment between father and son," Dalinna said. "It felt like a nice way to capture a memory. I hope people enjoy seeing these real, heartfelt parenting moments."
